Evaluate statements made by others about the findings of statistical investigations and probability activities.

In the newspaper article, ‘Which Social Media for Teens?’, it was reported that young people are using different forms of social media than they did a few years ago.
Read the article below and comment on whether the reporter’s statements are consistent with the survey data.
Which Social Media for Teens?
It looks like Facebook is no longer cool amongst the teens of today.  Instagram and Twitter have taken over the most popular social networks among American children and these kids are ditching Facebook.
Research has shown that today’s teens are no longer using Facebook. Rather, they are using Instagram and Twitter. There has been a steady decline in the usage of Facebook, with all other social networks increasing in popularity. Surveys of 15,000 social network users between the ages of 13 and 19 over the past three years, gave the following results:

The Reporter's Statement was true about that facebook has not as much people using it in 2015 and instagram and twitter have taken over instagram with 27% and Twitter with 12%

It was quite busy because it was a wet lunch so first of all we put all the books away. I spent the rest of the time on the computer checking peoples books out.

The care value I showed was: Use manners because I changed my date of duty because it was my responsibility.

HLC Merit #5

A11. Design your own challenge.

On Saturday I made a whole lot of different slimes with Maddy and her sister Bella. I am going to show you some photos and what is happening in the photos.

The care value I showed was: Try your best because we problem solved when I added to much pink.

This is from when maddy wanted me to put a little bit more pink in but I added to much then we relised it looked pretty cool.

So for this one we experimeted and we thought we could put decorating beads into slime we soon relised the colour faded out and the beads fall out everywhere.

Something about slime is that it is really cool when you add the borax solution because it all starts coming together its really fasinating.

This is all our slimes I cant belleive how cool they all turned out.

HLC part 2 #2

So I prepared a three course meal. The entrèe was Thai chicken tempers and the main was Chicken pad thai the dessert was brandy snaps with ice cream. My favourite thing to make out of these was the chicken pad thai because it tasted amazing. something I found a bit difficult was getting the meals ready on time because we waited about 45 minutes for the dessert because I didnt realise it would take that long to do the brandy snaps. I also made lemen lime and bitters.

The care value I showed was: clean up after yourself because in the last meal I made I did not clean up the dishes so I made it a goal to do it this time.

Here are some photos

HLC Merit #4

Improve your fitness: Over 4 weeks: Walk 60km or cycle 100km or swim 1km.
Over the past 4 weeks I have swam 1km I have done this at my swimming lessons and some off it at zones. I really enjoy swimming but sometimes it gets really tiring like sometimes for assessments I have to swim 20 lengths which is quite difficult but I usually manage to do it.

The care value I showed was: Be resilient when challenged because I kept trying at the 20 length assessment.

Here are some photos:)

Band Merit #4

On Wednesday at band we started setting up and when I was waiting for everybody else to get ready with their instruments I learnt how to play twinkle twinkle little star on the keyboard. My friend Maddy and I thought it was to slow to play on guitar so we sped it up and Mr Rule really liked it that way which was good hopefully next time I could try learn a new song on the keyboard.

The care value I showed was: Aim and achieve for the best in all my learning I am doing this by trying to learn a new song next time on the keyboard.

Librarian Merit #4

Today I went to the library for my duty I usually go on Wednesdays but I had band practice instead. I did it with Jacob H today something I found different about Jacob compared to Johanna is he doesn't really try hard at it and slacks off I even saw him sitting on a cushion with Austin at one point. Anyway this session was still a lot of fun because I got to be at the counter which is my favourite part of being a librarian.

The care value I showed was: Be resilient when challenged (E3) because when Jacob was slacking of I keep going with what I knew was right.

Writing

In writing I have been learning to:
  • use all basic punctuation independently
  • attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses)

I have been especially focussing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this.

Games with no or minimal equipment

In PE we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.
Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.

Screen Shot 2017-03-12 at 12.32.06 PM.png

The table below shows my understanding of games with minimal or no equipment.
(Fill this table in, in as much detail as possible. )

Examples of Games that need minimal or no equipment.
What equipment would we usually need to play these games.
Why do we play games with minimal or no equipment?
* French Cricket
* tag games
* cricket
* indian tag
* octopus
* invisible touch
* touch
* bibs or bands
* cones
* whistle
* games with no or minimal equipment equipent can be played anywhere
 *they are quick and easy to set up and pack away

My Strengths.
Some things that I have done well during this unit of learning are Joining in because I am not standing back and letting others do everything for me.
My Next Steps.

Some things I could improve on when playing games with minimal or no equipment are listening to the rules at the start because sometimes I dont listen because it know what the rules are.

Square numbers to 100 and their matching square roots.

In Maths we have been learning:

Square numbers to 100 and their matching square roots.
This is part of our basic facts knowledge.
It is important to just know these as we can use this knowledge in other areas of maths.

Here is a link to our online modelling book. Link

Here are the IXL screenshots that show evidence of my learning.
My next learning step in Maths is……. analyse your Asttle test results.
